Bardia National Park

Bardia National Park is a large protected area situated in Nepal. It was established in 1988 with the aim of preserving the natural resources along with living organisms in Bardia. The protected area was given the name ‘Royal Bardia National Park’. But, as the prefix Royal is related to Kingship, it was later deleted from the name after removal of Kingship in the country. Hence, it is currently known as Bardia National Park.

It covers an area of 968 square kilometers which is a very large one. The fact of being the largest conservation area and also least disturbed one makes it the most popular one. Similarly, the Nepalgunj – Surkhet highway makes the southern border and is divided into two halves by the Babai River. Being least disturbed, however, the site is a little affected by human residence in the South and in the south-east by Babai River.

A neighboring protected area named Banke National Park together with Bardia National Park covers an area of 2,231 square kilometers in total. Also, they together form up a Tiger Conservation Unit [TCU].

About 70% of the total area of Bardia National Park is covered by forests of grassland, Savannah and river-in forests. Electricity Crisis Problem in Nepal

It is difficult to told you that Nepal has an electricity problem because Nepal is 2nd richest country in water resource but it is true Nepal still facing the problem. It means there is electricity off for some hours in day and night time. Most of the hotels in Kathmandu, Pokhara and other cities are possible to have no battery backup. In that case Air condition may not work and, sometimes, TV and other electric utensils may not run. Some hotels have possible to run the TV and AC as well. But, only few of them are lies in this standard category.

So, be organized for this while you are traveling in Nepal.  For that situation, we suggested you to bring the flashlight with extra batteries.

Yes, you can do that but it is not actually required to spend large amount of your money to buy extra equipment and clothing earlier to your trip because most of the trekking equipment can be hired from Trekking shops within Kathmandu. Most of the gear is locally contrived. Some Chinese equipment are possible to be more expensive but qualitative. You can take Sleeping bag and down jacket easily on rent. Each item can be rented for less than USD 1 per day. You have to manage other items buying them yourself. Surely these items are more possible to be cheaper than those in your Country or hometown. Great Experience of My Everest Kalapathar and Island Peak Trek

Mr Bishnu Pokhrel from Gold Mountain Nepal Treks organized for me a very nice trek around the Sagarmatha National Park on September 2014.

I spent 17 days in the Khumbu region with a guide and full lodge accommodation. my itinerary was defined by me and the company provided an English Speaking local guide. We went from Lukla to Gokyo Ri, crossed the Cho La Pass in deep Winter conditions, continued the trekking up to Khumbu Glacier and Kala Pathar and finally discovered a precious glacier valley in the East of Sagarmatha, the Imja Kosi, until Chukkung and the Imja Tsé (Island Peak) base camp, where the organization set a campsite with tents and kitchen for the climbing of this 6000 m trekking peak.

All food and lodges perfectly matched my expectations.

Gold Mountain Nepal also provided me the needed technical gear for climbing the Island Peak, including an experienced climbing guide, plastic boots and high altitude sleeping bag.

Tim's card for trekking in the National Park, SPCC Climbing permit for Imja Tsé and the plane tickets from Katmandú to Lukla (round trip) were also issued by the company.

Gold Mountain Nepal Treks also picked me at the international Airport, booked from me hotel in the city and organized a sightseeing tour with personal guide around Kathmandu before my trek and a farewell dinner before my return.

I really appreciate the work done by Gold Mountain Nepal Treks and I recommend you to book your trek to them. They are responsible and efficient, and have very good prices too.
