Mount Cho Oyu introduces itself as the 6th highest mountain peak in the world. Stretching high above towards the deep blue sky with an unbeatable altitude of 8,201 metres, makes it a reputed mountain all around the world. Professional mountaineers find it very fascination to make a history of adventures in this exquisite form of natural design.
The name of the mountain is derived from Tibetan language which means ‘Turquoise Goddess’. Lying in the border of Nepal and Tibet, it is 20 kilometres far away from Mount Everest and is the westernmost mountain peak in the Khumbu Himalaya region of Nepal. Towards the west side of this mountain lay Nangpa La [5,716m/18,753ft] which a high passes formed of large frozen glaciers. It separates the Khumbu region from Rolwaling Mountain.
Cho Oyu Expedition is a very challenging and adventurous form of mountain sport. It was first climbed by Herbert Tichy, Joseph Jochler and Sherpa Pasang Dawa Lama of an Austrian expedition group through the North-western ridge on 19th of October, 1954. From 20th of December 2014 to 5th of January 2015 we went spent some gorgeous weeks trekking in the Annapurna region. First, we hiked to Poon Hill which rewarded us with a very nice sunrise. Then, we continued our trekking to the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). Both at the ABC and on the way to and from it, we were blessed with amazing sunsets and sunrises. We even saw monkeys and eagles. Views were spectacular and the weather was great.
The organization of the trek was immaculate. All transfers (Kathmandu airport – Hotel – Pokhara– Kathmandu Hotel – airport) were perfectly organized. In addition, both the guide and porter did a great job. They were very flexible and always agreed when we wanted to change the program. This allowed us to reach the ABC two days earlier than planned and gave us more time to visit additional places when going down. We also paid a visit to hot springs which was very nice. In sum, we recommend Gold Mountain Nepal Treks & Expedition as a reliable trekking agency which is very eager to comply with the customers’ wishes.

Me and my friend Matilde just finished the "Annapurna Base Camp Trek” with Gold Mountain Nepal Treks & Expedition in this October of 2014. Gold Mountain Nepal Treks provided us helpful, friendly and knowledge guide & Porters as well. Our guide “Navaraj” was really knowledgeable about the entire area, and everything related with the trekking.
All accommodation was also perfect in Kathmandu, Pokhara and trekking areas of Annapurna.
I give my highest recommendation to Gold Mountain Nepal Treks. Their prices are also very aggressive.
Mr Bishnu Pokhrel from Gold Mountain Nepal Treks organized for me a very nice trek around the Sagarmatha National Park on September 2014.
I spent 17 days in the Khumbu region with a guide and full lodge accommodation. my itinerary was defined by me and the company provided an English Speaking local guide. We went from Lukla to Gokyo Ri, crossed the Cho La Pass in deep Winter conditions, continued the trekking up to Khumbu Glacier and Kala Pathar and finally discovered a precious glacier valley in the East of Sagarmatha, the Imja Kosi, until Chukkung and the Imja Tsé (Island Peak) base camp, where the organization set a campsite with tents and kitchen for the climbing of this 6000 m trekking peak.
All food and lodges perfectly matched my expectations.
Gold Mountain Nepal also provided me the needed technical gear for climbing the Island Peak, including an experienced climbing guide, plastic boots and high altitude sleeping bag.
Tim's card for trekking in the National Park, SPCC Climbing permit for Imja Tsé and the plane tickets from Katmandú to Lukla (round trip) were also issued by the company.
Gold Mountain Nepal Treks also picked me at the international Airport, booked from me hotel in the city and organized a sightseeing tour with personal guide around Kathmandu before my trek and a farewell dinner before my return.
I really appreciate the work done by Gold Mountain Nepal Treks and I recommend you to book your trek to them. They are responsible and efficient, and have very good prices too.
