Yes, you can do that but it is not actually required to spend large amount of your money to buy extra equipment and clothing earlier to your trip because most of the trekking equipment can be hired from Trekking shops within Kathmandu. Most of the gear is locally contrived. Some Chinese equipment are possible to be more expensive but qualitative. You can take Sleeping bag and down jacket easily on rent. Great Experience of My Everest Kalapathar and Island Peak Trek
Mr Bishnu Pokhrel from Green Nepal Tourism organized for me a very nice trek around the Sagarmatha National Park on September 2014.
I spent 17 days in the Khumbu region with a guide and full lodge accommodation. my itinerary was defined by me and the company provided an English Speaking local guide. We went from Lukla to Gokyo Ri, crossed the Cho La Pass in deep Winter conditions, continued the trekking up to Khumbu Glacier and Kala Pathar and finally discovered a precious glacier valley in the East of Sagarmatha, the Imja Kosi, until Chukkung and the Imja Tsé (Island Peak) base camp, where the organization set a campsite with tents and kitchen for the climbing of this 6000 m trekking peak.
All food and lodges perfectly matched my expectations.
Green Nepal Tourism also provided me the needed technical gear for climbing the Island Peak, including an experienced climbing guide, plastic boots and high altitude sleeping bag.
Tim's card for trekking in the National Park, SPCC Climbing permit for Imja Tsé and the plane tickets from Katmandú to Lukla (round trip) were also issued by the company.
Green Nepal Tourism also picked me at the international Airport, booked from me hotel in the city and organized a sightseeing tour with personal guide around Kathmandu before my trek and a farewell dinner before my return.
I really appreciate the work done by Green Nepal Tourism and I recommend you to book your trek to them. They are responsible and efficient, and have very good prices too.
