Island Peak climbing

Island Peak climbing is a beautiful form of mountaineering activity in Nepal. As all the major peaks of the country, this one also provides the similar kind of adventures and excitement. This mountain peak located in the Everest Himalaya Region of Nepal stands with an impressive altitude of 6,189 meters. It is counted among the major peaks for climbing. The mountain peak gets its name as it seems like an island between large form of ice and snow when viewed from Dingboche. It was named as island peak in the year 1952 and the name was later changed to ‘Imje Tse’. With only a little effect, the peak was still called as the previous name.

We have designed a special itinerary for Island peak climbing takes you all the way to Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar before starting the climbing part. Doing so make you more motivated and inspired as you get to enjoy very close panoramic views of several exquisite form of mountain peaks such as Lhotse, Baruntse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Makalu. These mountain peaks seem highly enduring as if you were hallucinating.

It has been long since the first climb of the peak. But, since then explorers found it an exciting one and have always admired the region of mountaineering activities. It was first accented by a Swiss team in the year 1956 as a warm-up exercise for preparation to conquer Mount Everest and Lhotse. Basically, there are two routes to the summit of this peak. One that starts from the Base Camp at an altitude of 5,087 meters and the second one that directly takes you to the High Camp in order to skip some of the technical parts of the route.

Great Experience of My Everest Kalapathar and Island Peak Trek

Mr Bishnu Pokhrel from Green Nepal Tourism organized for me a very nice trek around the Sagarmatha National Park on September 2014.

I spent 17 days in the Khumbu region with a guide and full lodge accommodation. my itinerary was defined by me and the company provided an English Speaking local guide. We went from Lukla to Gokyo Ri, crossed the Cho La Pass in deep Winter conditions, continued the trekking up to Khumbu Glacier and Kala Pathar and finally discovered a precious glacier valley in the East of Sagarmatha, the Imja Kosi, until Chukkung and the Imja Tsé (Island Peak) base camp, where the organization set a campsite with tents and kitchen for the climbing of this 6000 m trekking peak.

All food and lodges perfectly matched my expectations.

Green Nepal Tourism also provided me the needed technical gear for climbing the Island Peak, including an experienced climbing guide, plastic boots and high altitude sleeping bag.

Tim's card for trekking in the National Park, SPCC Climbing permit for Imja Tsé and the plane tickets from Katmandú to Lukla (round trip) were also issued by the company.

Green Nepal Tourism also picked me at the international Airport, booked from me hotel in the city and organized a sightseeing tour with personal guide around Kathmandu before my trek and a farewell dinner before my return.

I really appreciate the work done by Green Nepal Tourism and I recommend you to book your trek to them. They are responsible and efficient, and have very good prices too.
